From the moment girl-next-door Haley McAdams met America's Favorite News Reporter Camden Morrison, her life hasn't been the same. Suddenly she has everything she ever wanted- love, money, and career success. But can she handle the pressures that come with it?
One day she's a financial blogger, the next, a TV expert on a political scandal. Her on-air epiphanies, and liberated writing style have landed some powerful men in hot water, and there are consequences to pay.
Just as her career takes off, so does her love life. But the memories of her past make it hard to accept the good things around her. Is her rich and famous boyfriend the real reason for her new success? Does he really love her? Or does he have an ulterior motive too?
Haley is a good girl from a loving family and traditional values, but she knows her way around the world of finance and politics. She may be virtuous, but she is not naïve. And if there is one thing she has learned, it is that money is the root of all evil.

Perhaps it was the timing of the reading, or just plain good writing. Amidst the political ads, the drama of powerful people, or maybe just what I'm going through personally, I enjoyed this book. The novel is based in Washington, DC and captured the dilemma anyone living and working in the DC metro area goes through as they navigate through the power, money, prestige and expectations that come with the territory.
Though it is clear that Haley is standing her moral ground, it is also clear she will have choices to make, more joys, more heartache and will ultimately grow into the big shoes she's created for herself in this story.
This helped me step back and re-assess what I am doing, where I am going and what trade offs I want (and don't want) to make going forward.
Thanks for sharing this special novel Erin! I couldn't put the iPad down, but will admit to skipping forward to ensure she was still with her man! (-:

You Heard It Here First The Haley and Cam Series edition by Erin Ann McBride Juli Caldwell Tammy Schmidt Tammy Price Misty D Hudson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was interesting, funny, and romantic from start to finish. I highly recommend it for a fun read. I'm looking forward to reading more books written by this author.
This moves with action enough keep you reading quickly to find out what happens next. Fun romance, action, and intrigue all combined together. You get caught up in the lives of the characters and want to know what comes next!
This book has kept me entertained from page #1 and the whole way through. I didn't want it to end! I loved the financial bits throughout the book that made me feel like I was learning as well as being entertained. I can't wait to read more of this author's books and will be recommending them.
In fact, I immediately bought book2 and enjoyed it also. The characters were fun to be with. The story was a look at an industry (TV and News) that I would normally never get to enjoy. I hope there are more Haley and Cam books coming up.
I have bought all three episodes of the book on and I have just one question... Does McBride even READ what the puts out there? After the first episode, I was ready for more of Cam and Haley. The second one seemed a bit jumbled, but I got through it and enjoyed it. Part three (which I am currently reading) doesn't pick up at the end of two as expected, but goes back and re-writes almost the entire second part. I will finish the book, because I like the characters and the values they promote, but I hope there is a conclusion and not another cliff-hanger with no resolution. I don't mind reading serialized stories, but come on Erin... Tell the whole story one way or another.
I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the language of this book. Haley seemed to possess every insecurity, doubt, and uncertainty- while also being brilliant, charming, and well-rounded- basically a normal modern day woman! I appreciated her logic and faith in standing by her values. I appreciated even more her humanity in following through with the best laid out plans. She acknowledges her vulnerabilities and that makes her endearing and complicated.
A must-read if you enjoy reading the intricacies falling in love (there is a very likeable male character) and keeping up with reality and chasing your dreams at the same time.
This is a little more than your average summer beach read. Haley McAdams is your average girl next door...but with brains as well as beauty. She accidentally triggers a presidential scandal and the story takes off from there.
This book isn't a political thriller but the politics and intrigue keep the plot humming along, and the news anchor boyfriend? He is a Gilbert Blythe or Mr. Darcy for the 21st century. This is well worth your time and money.
